We say both dish and dining style because the hog roast manages to encompass both. The hog roast itself is an excellent dish much like any roast is. You’ve got lovely tender meat with a good crisp skin for plenty of flavour and texture, and it goes great with more roasted veg, potatoes, and gravy or apple sauce.
But of course hog roasting also refers to the exact style of roasting too. You see, unlike sticking a pork cut in the oven and producing your roast that way, hog roasting like ours takes a whole pig and puts it on a spit where it will turn over a fire pit for hours. This is an older style of roasting that looks as good as it tastes. The turning action of the spit produces a more tender pork while the flames will leave a nice natural charring across the entire skin, making the entire roast this excellent golden-bronze hue with flavour locked into the crisp, salty skin and plenty of juiciness awaiting underneath.
With the size of the whole hog roast we can produce a massive variety of dishes that will feed hundreds of guests at once. It makes for quality and quantity without any compromise – the only one being that it takes plenty time, but even that comes as a bonus when we cook fresh on site in this brilliant looking culinary spectacle!
